Trabant 10.1 (2-door Sedan & Kombi) - The comeback of a legend

Do you remember the Trabant, one of the most iconic cars of the former East Germany? Only 4 models were produced from this brand, between 1957 and 1990: 500, 600, 601 and 1.1. In 1991 the historic company got shutdown and the factory in Zwickau was bought by Volkswagen. However, in 2009 a Trabant nT concept was made, but only to remain as an idea.
After learning about this car, I had several times the idea to create a modern Trabant by using the Mini Cooper as a guinea pig, because of its retro design. But instead of being premium like the Mini, it needs to be a low-cost and fun-to-drive vehicle. So, the small car got downgraded by using parts from Skoda models and after that I made out of it a 2-door sedan and a 3-door station wagon "Kombi" version, as the original model had.
